What is Linux ?

Linux is a Unix-like and mostly POSIX-compliant, computer operating system (OS) assembled under the model of free and open-source software development and distribution. The defining component of Linux is the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds.

Why Linux ?

Linux is free , the meaning of free is FREEDOM so you can set your linux distro as what you want, Linux has many distro and community, Linux has many distro like Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, Etc.

Some distro owned by Company and community and some was sponsored by Big company like Fedora that sponsored by Red Hat.

What is linux distro ?

linux distro is a collection of software packages - Additional packages such as image processing , office suite , firewall , etc

The differences in package and system operation that's called distributions. famous example is Debian , Slackware , openSUSE , Gentoo , Ubuntu , and others
